Religious Education is at the very heart of English Martyrs' and is an integral part of all teaching and learning within the school. Jesus invited his disciples to "Come and see," (John Chapter1) and his disciples followed him and began to learn more. Come and See is the programme which all children in school follow. At the heart of the programme is the mystery of God's revelation of love through his son Jesus Christ. Come and See gives pupils the opportunity to explore the mystery of faith through Scripture and Tradition. An important part of the Religious Education curriculum are the weeks when the children spend time learning about other faiths including Judaism, Islam and Sikhism. English Martyrs' is a Rights Respecting School and as such the children are taught to respect the right of all people to practice their own religion, culture and language. (Article 30)

Regular liturgies take place within school, including class liturgies, whole school Acts of Worship and the celebration of Holy Mass. Many of these celebrations are open to all friends and family, so keep an eye on the newsletter for details.

We are very proud to have our own Chaplaincy Team within school. The chaplaincy team consists of a group of Year 6 students who offer peer support to all children across the school, help to prepare and lead whole school liturgies and also offer a monthly lunch time liturgy which is open to any children who would like to attend. Most lunchtimes these children can be found in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 playgrounds, facilitating games and friendships and offering a kind ear to those who need it. Upcoming Chaplaincy Team events are advertised on their board within school.
