Here at English Martyrs', we take an holistic approach to children's health and wellbeing.

As well as the day-to-day emotional support your child receives in their class, we are lucky to be able to offer extra help and support, should your child need it.

This includes having a trained ELSA - Emotional Literacy Support Assistant - (Mrs McElhone) who can offer one-to-one support. "ELSA is an initiative developed and supported by educational psychologists who apply psychological knowledge of children’s social and emotional development to particular areas of need." (https://www.elsanetwork.org/about/

There is also our English Martyrs' Star Group, which runs twice a week for one term at a time. This is an opportunity for children to be part of a small group of pupils and receive a considerable amount of adult help to develop their learning skills, friendship strategies, self- esteem and confidence and other skills which will support them as they move up the school. Please click on the link below to download the information leaflet and find out more information about our Nurture Group: Welcome to our Nurture Group Leaflet

When the need arises, we are also able to offer children bereavement support. This is facilitated by trained staff(Mrs McElhone, Mrs Taylor and Ms Raiseborough) who encourage the children to support one another. Bereavement isn't just death - it may be significant changes to their family such as illnesses, separation and other life changing events in their life.  We use a programme which has been developed by Rainbows.Org https://rainbowsgb.org/
